Well, we can't believe we are nearly in the middle of February. Where is the year going? However, we are super excited here as this means we are ever nearing the opening of our doors!
February is that time of year where everyone gets a little silly and romantic thanks to St Valentine. Having spoken to some of the New Road Crew, it seems that not everyone is in the romantic mood – some of our crew will make big gestures on 14th and others feel that it is more special to spoil someone on a whim, off the cuff when it is not expected.
We have some great ideas for Valentine's Day that won't break the bank to show that special someone how much you care!
Love Lane, EC2
Not far from us and a popular place for Engagement Photo Shoots to take place, we feel that a picture speaks a thousand words and this is something that can be cherished for ever, what's even better there's no cost involved, just take a selfie with your phone!
Columbia Road Flower Market
If you are like me and not that lucky to be receiving a bouquet of 12 dozen red roses this year, why not head to Columbia Road Flower Market before noon on a Sunday and you can pick up some amazing deals on fresh flowers. A tenner will even buy you your own lemon tree – great for adding to a G&T! If you are with someone and want to spend a floral Sunday morning stroll this is the place to go with plenty of bagel and coffee outlets.

DIY Porn Workshop
Forget 50 Shades of Grey – enjoy a Valentine's evening full of kink at a DIY Porn Workshop. Hosted by sexual liberties campaigner, Pandora Blake, this workshop will give you all the tips on how to make your own naughty film in your own home! Thanks to one of our crew for letting us know this was taking place!
Taking Place on Feb 14. Tickets are £12. The Book Club, EC2A 4RH. https://thebookclub.eventcube.io/events/9311/diy-porn-how-to-make-it-and-feel-good-doing-it

The Whitechapel Fatberg
Now on display at the Museum of London, this is not a visit for the faint hearted and perhaps not a suitable Valentine's date, but if you are curious and brave enough, then it's a piece of history worth a view – sadly though there are no takers of the New Road Crew to visit.

The East End Women's Museum
Celebrating 100 years of women's activism in Hackney and throughout England, 2018 is a significant milestone in women's rights. Discover the inspiring stories of women who made a difference in the borough and beyond, across issues ranging from education, workers' rights, and healthcare to domestic violence, the peace movement, and police relations. This free exhibition tells the story of women-led activism in Hackney from 1918 to the present day. It was created by the East End Women's Museum in collaboration with Hackney Museum.
